Rock ID Challenge
Ten rocks at the base of the Pine River Paddlesports Center’s sign are waiting for you to identify them – while you learn about the several rock types of the Pine River region!
The rocks are numbered and correspond to the numbers on this printer-friendly challenge form. The challenge is great family fun, it’s free, and it’s educational. So bring your rock identification field guide from home and enjoy PRPC’s Rock Identification Challenge.
Our Rock ID Challenge worksheet
is available as an Adobe PDF document that you can download and print. We also have copies available in the PRPC office.
Participants who wish to enter their completed challenge form in a drawing for an Old Town Otter Kayak at season’s end can do so for an entry fee of $2. At least 8 of the 10 rocks need to be correctly identified in order to qualify to win the new Otter Kayak.
If you don’t have a field guide at home, a “Pocket Naturalist” guide for rocks is available for $6.95 at the PRPC Campstore.
