The Pine is simply the best paddlesports river in lower Michigan. It is in both the Michigan Natural Rivers Program and the United States Wild & Scenic Rivers System. With several access sites, you can plan a trip most any length you desire. If you are looking for more than just a day trip, the numerous campgrounds along and near the Pine make it a great stream for a two or three day canoe trip.

Regardless of your skill-level or ability, we have a Big Manistee River canoe trip to suit the needs of you, your family, and friends. Are you new to paddling or unfamiliar with the waters of the Big Manistee? We can put you on a flat-water stretch, a quiet water stretch, or an intermediate stretch of this beautiful, forested river. From a 2-hour stretch to 10 days, the Big Manistee offers a trip length for everyone!

Could Saturday have been a better day? It began for us on the Pine River rushing through rapids as water splashed over the sides of our kayaks. With the sun warming us from above, and with the sound of the moving water and the gentle breeze, all senses were engage and pleased. The day ended pounding up and down the Big M trails on our mountain bikes, cycling underneath a canopy of green leaves, nature's cathedral. I can't think of how the day could have been better. Thank you once again for hosting us for our Pine River paddle. You and your staff were charming and extremely helpful.
